23: When you post, where do you post to? Just your journal? Just an archive? Your own personal site?
This question is fascinating, considering how long I've been in fandom.
First was fanfiction.net, and I will not even lie about it. It's where stuff was. Particularly, Harry Potter stuff. There, someone from a Ron/Hermione archive invited me to start posting at said archive, which I happily did. I posted my HP stuff at a couple archives. (I think it's still up at a couple, even, lol.)
Then livejournal happened, lol. And other fandoms, for which I did not have a place to post other than livejournal, such as Sports Night. There were livejournal communities for everything, sometimes multiple, so I posted to the most applicable one directly and linked everywhere else. This was something I did that was apparently unusual? Most people posted to their personal/personal fic journals then linked at communities. I don't regret it though; having all those comments archived at
pinecity is literally priceless -- some of them are from a friend who is now deceased. I did end up posting at my own journal then linking elsewhere (because it's been an issue since I went f'locked, lol) but I'm not really sure why. Just withdrawing, I think.
At times in there I tried to post to others, both insanejournal and dreamwidth, but wow did I not like both platforms, and what was the point? I've had a livejournal since 2003. It's for better or worse at this point, and I ain't even mad.
Then AO3 happened! I resisted, because the ease of giving something kudos would and did lead to the dwindling of comments given, but in the wake of Tumblr AO3 is a magnificent place. So all of my things are there, minus I think maybe some really twee drabbles. At this point, I expect to be an unknown author, as fandom fame involved Tumblr and way more time than I have right now, so I just like having all of my stuff in one place for my own sake.
