Every time I'm writing porn, I unfailingly think about Ms Perky in 10 Things I Hate About You. Allison Janney, lolol, fuck I love her.

Title: The Man Who Held Up Atlas
Fandom: Star Trek (reboot)
Pairing: Jim Kirk/Leonard McCoy
Rating: R for language, violence, and adult situations
Length: 7,070 words
Summary: Five times Leonard McCoy fixed Jim Kirk’s back, and the one time he didn’t have to.
Warning: possible trigger of severe disregard for one’s own life and all that implies about one’s mental health.

Contains: Reverse chronology. Excessive schmoopiness, but bonus angst to balance it out. Cliches. Medical & canonical inaccuracies and fabrications (‘MAKING UP SCIENCE SINCE 1966’). Differing POVs. Happy ending (beginning?).
Disclaimer: Obvious lack of ownership is obvious. I make fun, not money.
Dedication: To my back. I’m sorry, buddy. Let’s make the future better than the past.
Sources/Inspirations/Etc: Brita and her chickens, [livejournal.com profile] lord_colin and his McCoy, Fox Mulder, [livejournal.com profile] jazzy_peaches for her insight on what a Jim Kirk midlife-crisis might look like, Memory Alpha and [livejournal.com profile] canonisrelative (‘angst is my favorite color’) for knowing way too many numbers, and also for giving it a read-thru and telling me I didn’t suck.
Notes: Well holy cats. I started this story back in the heyday (2010, I’m guessing?) and re-found it, three-fifths done, while on a writing/knitting retreat with my mom in 2016. And man am I in love with it. <3_<3 And if you want to know my current headspace while finishing, put on this Ben Folds Tiny Desk concert.

thalialunacy2: (SPN: Dean grieves)
Tornado Warning
by dear_tiger
Supernatural, mythology-ish casefic-y Wincest
rated mature, 27K

Summary:
A failed attempt to restore Sam’s soul leaves roboSam with a demonic infestation. He and Dean set off across the country, searching for a way to reverse the damage. Elsewhere, an amnesiac ex-con lands a job at the Winchester Meat butcher shop, gets harassed by local monsters and falls in love with the sheriff. There are two stories that develop independently, and the connection is a name, and the name is a memory, and memories are hard to come by. But what you gotta remember first and foremost, sonny, is to watch out for the tornado.

OH MY GOD THE WRITING. THE. WRITING. After work while waiting for my car to warm up I literally curled into myself at how well one of the scenes was shaped. Just. Oh my fucking god. I am going to legitimately read this story again and again, just to wallow in the nuances. Unnnngggghhh. WORDS. I LOVE THEM.
thalialunacy2: (XF: Mulder Headdesk)
A) Do I finish reading this otherwise-excellent big bang despite the sudden un-warned-for rape scene?

B) Do I say anything to the author about it?

"Tony, the Hulk isn't erectile dysfunction..."

Omggggggg. I'm going through my 'Marked for Later' on AO3, and apparently a few years ago I thought I'd have time later for a lot of Tony/Bruce. THANK YOU, PAST SELF!! ...which is not something I say unironically very often, lol. But I am loving this. :D :D

Damn it, I need an icon now. #fandomproblems

This year I wrote and posted:

04.04.15 At Least They're Not Star Wars PJs (Leverage, Hardison/Eliot 1shot)
04.27.15 Bad Case of Loving You (Leverage, Hardison/Eliot 1shot)
08.30.15 Life in the Key of C-Sharp (Merlin, Merlin/Arthur, reversebb)
12.12.15 Worth It (Star Trek AOS, Kirk/McCoy rom com)

Overall Thoughts:
That makes me sad. It's so twee. Where are my words? I need to tend to them.

kind of a downer year, ngl )

AKA a Call for Prompts! :D

I want to wriiiiite. And handily I have this lil thing called the 12 Days of Christmas coming up here real quick. Which is perfect for little writings.

So. Got some one-word prompts for me, friends? Can be anything. You can specify a fandom/pairing if you want, but you don't have to. :D

thalialunacy2: (ST: You had me at 'I may throw up on you)
Title: Worth It
Fandom: Star Trek AOS
Pairing: Leonard McCoy/James Kirk
Word Count/Medium: 5420
Rating/Warnings: Rated explicit for bumpin uglies. No warnings, except maybe for silliness. And a cameo by my favorite hitter.
Summary: The one where they have to get presents, Jim almost dies (again), Spock might be meddling, and McCoy grumbles a lot. And then there's sex.
thalialunacy2: (J2: OH COME ON)
!!!! It's over?! I don't even know what I'm going to do with myself! I NEED MORE MEMES.

30: Do you have a favorite fic you've written? What makes it your favorite? And don't forget to give us a link.

WOW. This is... tough, for somebody who has 123 works on AO3. I thought about doing one from each fandom, which, well, would be fair I think, but I liked the challenge. And honest to God, when I stop complifying and just kind of feel it, it turns out the one that always come to mind is the same. And it's one of my least-read stories, lol, where Jared Padalecki has a tiny dick and there are poop jokes and. And I love it. It's real, it's eloquent, it's sexy, it's full of love and laughter, and it's wonderful.

You're the Deuce I Don't Wanna Drop

...and okay, if we do one from each significant fandom:
Sports Night: Landed
(because it's smartly written)
Merlin RPF: Back of the Net
(because it's hot, and an awesome universe)
Star Trek AOS: Modulation
(because I pulled off first-person McCoy)
Harry Potter: Precious Things
(because I made plot! a real, sort of interesting one!)
Merlin: Like When I Noticed Your Nobility
(because it's beautiful, and imo a great plot 'twist')
Star Trek RPF: For a Postman's Fee
(because. i don't really know. it just... is wonderful. and dear to me.)

29: What is your current project or projects?

WELL. ACTUALLY. lol. I can say I'm working on something, which is weird, because I've just plain not been very active in writing for like... a few years. This year is by far my lowest-producing, though. But I've figured out that I can write on my phone while walking to and from work (and like, waiting in line, on the toilet, you name it) and IT'S FANTASTIC.

So, right now it's Leverage, an Eliot/Hardison fake boyfriends tropefic. Because I ~can. ;)

28: Have you ever collaborated with anyone else, whether writing together, or having an artist work on a piece about your fic?

You know, I have (and I'm here assuming this is outside the bounds of a Big Bang, because that's already been discussed) and it was terrible. Because *I* am terrible. Or at least was, in my 20s, pretty much period. Unreliable, mercurial, terrible to work with.

Also, writing a series with a romantic partner was... was fruitful, but painful. I know I should let myself be open to doing it again, because art and life are pain and there is no joy without the terrible but god. Did it hurt.

27: Where is your favorite place to write, and do you write by hand or on the computer?

My handwriting is terrible and cannot keep up with my brain nearly as fast as my typing (~100wpm), but there is something charming about writing longhand, isn't there? The modern version I've found is writing on my phone in gdocs; it's just as freeing as writing longhand. And just as slow, lol.

26: What is the oddest (or funniest) thing you've had to research for a fic?

Man, it all feels odd, you know? New Zealand divorce processes, watches, intercrural sex, US football, UK football, fountain pens, horses... that's just what I remember off the top of my head. I'm sure there's been more in 13 years, lol. I do love me some research. XB

25: Music: Do you listen to music while you write? Do you make playlists to get into a certain "mood" to write your fic? Do you need noise in general? Or do you need it completely quiet?

Weeellll. I'm ADHD so I have to have some sort of aural stimulation or else my brain sputters out. But I'm also a musician born and bred so it has to be something particular or else it distracts me. So, either something I've heard a zillion times, or something with no English words. E.g. I'm really fond of the Baroque Choral channel on Pandora, or the Anonymous4 channel.

Do I make playlists? If I have time for such procrastination, lol, yes I do. Or if a song just keeps banging at my brain while I'm writing, I put it in the notes somewhere. Or steal the title from it. XB

24: Betaing: How many betas do you like to use to make sure there aren't any major flaws in your fic? Do you have a Beta horror story or dream story?

Man I wish I could have like five on each! But karmically that doesn't work so well, ya feel me? I don't have time to be that for other people.

The only bad memories that come to mind are when I was stressed out by ~being a beta (biting off more than i can chew, ugh). Good memories? The rest of them. It's a service we offer for zero reward, so any help is good help.

23: When you post, where do you post to? Just your journal? Just an archive? Your own personal site?

This question is fascinating, considering how long I've been in fandom.

First was fanfiction.net, and I will not even lie about it. It's where stuff was. Particularly, Harry Potter stuff. There, someone from a Ron/Hermione archive invited me to start posting at said archive, which I happily did. I posted my HP stuff at a couple archives. (I think it's still up at a couple, even, lol.)

Then livejournal happened, lol. And other fandoms, for which I did not have a place to post other than livejournal, such as Sports Night. There were livejournal communities for everything, sometimes multiple, so I posted to the most applicable one directly and linked everywhere else. This was something I did that was apparently unusual? Most people posted to their personal/personal fic journals then linked at communities. I don't regret it though; having all those comments archived at [livejournal.com profile] pinecity is literally priceless -- some of them are from a friend who is now deceased. I did end up posting at my own journal then linking elsewhere (because it's been an issue since I went f'locked, lol) but I'm not really sure why. Just withdrawing, I think.

At times in there I tried to post to others, both insanejournal and dreamwidth, but wow did I not like both platforms, and what was the point? I've had a livejournal since 2003. It's for better or worse at this point, and I ain't even mad.

Then AO3 happened! I resisted, because the ease of giving something kudos would and did lead to the dwindling of comments given, but in the wake of Tumblr AO3 is a magnificent place. So all of my things are there, minus I think maybe some really twee drabbles. At this point, I expect to be an unknown author, as fandom fame involved Tumblr and way more time than I have right now, so I just like having all of my stuff in one place for my own sake.
