Harry Potter

    Fred/George
  • Two down, six to go (NC-17) (no length given)
Author's summary: Fred and George find a way to deal with their lifetime Quidditch ban.
Thalia's thoughts: What's clever about this one is how it's woven into OotP canon events. And it's especially poignant knowing what happens to them by the end of the series.

    gen
  • Of Blood and Dust and Potatoes (R) (7,308 words)
Author's summary: Ron always knew Harry could die in battle, but he never expected to lose him like this.
Thalia's thoughts: Written months before the release of DH, this story is an excellent and creative use of a throwaway JKR comment. If you like Harry & Ron's friendship, you'll like this story.

    Ginny/Luna
  • Downpour (PG-13) (940 words)
Author's summary: How not to be afraid of stormfronts.
    Thalia's thoughts: Gorgeous. The end.

    Harry/George
  • The Experiment (no rating given) (no length given)
Author's summary: After participating in an experiment proposed by Ron, Harry is left questioning his sexuality and starts seeing the world in a whole new light. Pre-HBP, but should be considered A/U for obvious reasons.
Thalia's thoughts: (Also Remus/Sirius, and minute Harry/Ron.) Harry's confusion about his sexuality is well-written. Sirius and Remus are adorable. George is quite the hunk, in a new and different way. A delightful story, thru and thru.

    Harry/Neville
  • In the Quiet Time (PG-13) (6,106 words)
Author's summary: "I think we are all who we are supposed to be, be it a war hero or a herbologist. We all have our place and our purpose. It doesn't matter that Voldemort chose you or not; you are Harry Potter and you would always be Harry Potter.”
Thalia's thoughts: Written with a gentle fierceness rivaling that of Neville himself. A poignant, lovely story of loss and living.

    Harry/Ron
  • The Best of My Love (R) (2,000+ words)
Author's summary: Ron and Harry have a secret relationship that they don't talk about.
Thalia's thoughts: If you like angst, you'll love this story. I don't particularly like angst, and I still love this story.

  • A Bitter Bargain (PG-13) (no length given)
Author's summary: Ron Weasley has to make a deal with the devil to save his friend's life.
Thalia's thoughts: Fantastic characterizations of Ron and Snape, wonderfully imaginative plot, and the details and pacing will keep you enthralled.

  • Childe Ronald to the Dark Tower Came (no rating given) (no length given)
Author's summary: A modern day fairy tale, starring Harry and Ron.
Thalia's thoughts: Most people would consider this story to be in the cracktastic genre, but to me there's so much tastic that it far outweighs the crack. Plus the premise is totally believable. AND AWESOME. You will laugh till you're crying.

  • Chocolate Milk (NC-17) (no length given)
    Author's summary: [none given]
    Thalia's thoughts: Sweet cute PWP.

  • A Christmas Visit (PG-13) (4,111 words)
Author's summary: Harry wants to spend Christmas Day with Ron at the Burrow. Ron's Healer has given him permission to leave St Mungos for the day. There is just one problem...Ron's terrified of his own family.
Thalia's thoughts: A unique (and horrifying) concept.

  • Closeness (PG-13) (841 words)
    Author's summary: [none given]
Thalia's thoughts: This angsty ficlet's shining moment is the end.

  • Guy Talk (no rating given) (no length given)
Author's summary: Playful and fun, the Gryffindors prod Harry about his mysterious sex life.
Thalia's thoughts: Absolutely brilliant dialogue. Will make you laugh like only adolescent boys can. Plus, ninja schmoop.

  • Like Candy From A Baby (R) (~13,000 words)
Author's summary: Ron seduces Harry. Post HBP.
Thalia's thoughts: Queer-as-a-three-dollar-bill!Ron and unkempt!Harry star in a rom-com that will melt your heart.

  • Lines (NC-17) (~4,200 words)
Author's summary: Harry has a nightmare. Ron helps him.
Thalia's thoughts: Ron's voice in this is so great, going from petulant to wise to funny to confused and back again. And the tone changes masterfully, hooking you dreamily then hitting you with awesomely realistic sex.

  • memoria incognita (PG-13) (~3,400 words)
Author's summary: Ron wakes in front of a mirror with no memory and works against time to realize that he, and everything, is there for a reason.
Thalia's thoughts: Such a great premise! And a great Ron.

  • Princes of Maine (NC-17) (~30,000 words)
Author's summary: Harry wakes one morning to find an abandoned baby on his doorstep. Little does he know that this is only the beginning of his most challenging adventure yet: parenthood.
Thalia's thoughts: I am not a good enough writer to describe why this story is as good as it is. It's just that good. But I'll try: First, it's intelligently written; big words and thoughtfully-formed sentences, paragraphs poking with true British humor. The world-building is superb, the pacing impeccable. And then there's the characters. JFC. Harry is so lost, and annoyed, and has a gambling problem, and Ron is a competent Healer, and annoyed, and has a Harry problem. There's also a mob boss, and oh yeah, a baby.

  • Tea (PG) (1,468 words)
Author's summary: Harry doesn't think he's a morning person, but he can't help but be one.
Thalia's thoughts: A nice mood piece, Harry voice.

  • The Thrill of the Chase and Other Illuminating Concepts (PG-13) (9,550 words)
Author's summary: Harry is going to seduce Ron. Even if it kills him.
Thalia's thoughts: A magical rom-com of the slightly cracky persuasion, involving such delightful things as leather trousers, muggle beer, a non-date, hunky Ron, and clueless Harry. A+, would lol again.

  • Troubled For You (NC-17) (no length given)
Author's summary: Harry battles with depression during the summer after fifth year. Ron offers to cheer him up, and the two of them redefine their friendship.
Thalia's thoughts: Oh man, this story is so quintessentially H/R and so quintessentially HP fandom. There's Harry being capslocky and Ron being loyal and Mrs Weasley being motherly and Lupin being reasonable... The progression of the relationship is so organic, product of the situation yet fumbly and juvenile and sweet.

    Harry/Ron/Hermione
  • Comfort and Carp (NC-17) (no length given)
Author's summary: They've always taken care of each other, any way they can.
Thalia's thoughts: The Molly voice is squishable. The narrative structure is well--thought-out and effective. And the sex is lovely.

  • Nothing Ordinary (PG) (2,699 words)
Author's summary: If any dodgy sort chose to rifle through the boys’ trunks in his dormitory, they’d more than likely pass his on by as the things he had stored in there looked either insignificant or like something that ought to have been tossed in the rubbish bin eons ago. But those things aren’t insignificant at all.
Thalia's thoughts: Wonderful recap of, well, everything. Simple and true.

  • Reunion (NC-17) (no length given)
    Author's summary: [none given]
Thalia's thoughts: Woohoo hot! And the beginning, the stage-setting, is really well-written.

  • Skin Against Skin (NC-17) (2,929 words)
Author's summary: One summer at Grimmauld Place, the trio take their relationship to the next level, to the dismay of the Weasleys.
Thalia's thoughts: Awkwardly in character and awkwardly sexy. And the sentiment between the three is lovely.

  • Waiting, Wondering, and Wasting Time (NC-17) (no length given)
Author's summary: Suddenly she found herself feeling an excitement she had never previously felt and, with a smirk on her lips worthy of any Slytherin, thought, Well, why the hell not?
Thalia's thoughts: Scheming!Hermione is so logical and delightful and full of dry humor. And the sex is hot, what can I say?

    Harry/Tonks
  • Anything you can do... (R) (515 words)
    Author's summary: [none given]
Thalia's thoughts: A short, effective, sexy scene.

    OBHWF
  • night : day (R) (4,600 words)
Author's summary: Harry takes Ron and Hermione to the Dursley's, they take him to the wedding, Ginny is left behind when they go.
Thalia's thoughts: Perhaps the 'happy' in the pairing should be replaced with 'A for Angsty,' because this story is set between HBP and DH and boy does it show it. But it's so deliciously written I read some of the lines over two, three times.

    Ron/Draco
  • The Odd Couple (R) (no length given)
Author's summary: Can two wizards share an apartment without driving each other crazy?
Thalia's thoughts: Also including secondary Harry/Pansy, this is a wickedly funny rom-com with dialogue and characters you will simply love.

    Ron/Hermione
  • Too Many Cooks (G) (7,782 words)
Author's summary: Ron wants to propose to Hermione but doesn’t know how to go about it so he asks for some familial advice.
Thalia's thoughts: Written pre-DH. Weasley shenanigans of the cutest kind.

    Scorpius/Albus
  • Sins of the Fathers (mature) (no length given)
    Author's summary: [none given]
Thalia's thoughts: Also Harry/Draco, and involving redeemed Malfoys, this is a story I really, really shouldn't like. But it is so well done that I am, almost against my own will, completely in love with it. Scorpius' voice starts out so perfectly yet unpatronizingly childlike, and matures so thoughtfully, and the show-don't-tell is ridiculously effective. Basically, I cannot sing the story's praises enough.

    Sirius/James
  • the strange ballad of sirius and james (R) (10,178 words)
    Author's summary: [none given]
Thalia's thoughts: Canon compliant, which means if you're looking for a happy Sirius/James live happily ever after story, this ain't it. But it's so many other things: a study of friendship, of youth, of sexuality, and of choices we all have to make - or have made for us.

    Snape/Harry
  • No Ordinary Household Pest (NC-17) (no length given)
Author's summary: Severus Snape's pest-deterrent efforts are derailed in the most unexpected way.
Thalia's thoughts: Snarry's a hard sell for me, ngl. Snape at all is a hard sell for me. But this pulls it off, in a non-angsty, delightfully hot way.

    Snape/Lupin
  • Every Snupin Ever Written (PG-13) (no length given)
Author's summary: Severus Snape and Remus Lupin are married and off on a whirlwind honeymoon. Some wedding guests remain to finish the leftover wine and wonder...
Thalia's thoughts: Lovingly pokes fun at fandom cliches. I found it funny even though I've never read a single Snupin, and the fact that someone went in after and added links to examples is most excellent.
