8: Do you write OCs? And if so, what do you do to make certain they're not Mary Sues, and if not, explain your thoughts on OCs.

:laughs long and hard:

Okay, listen, I used to mock HP Mary Sues with a vengeance, just like we all did, and for semi-valid reasons like terrible writing and lack of creative growth. And then Twilight happened, and I found myself defending the concept, because maybe we shouldn't be villainizing girls in the worst period of their lives.

And then, well, then I found Chris Pine, who became by and large my Mary Sue.

And then I wrote my Chris Pine sleeping with a girl who was basically me. And it was awesome.

I no longer mock Mary sues, let's just put it that way. I don't write OCs a lot, because hey that's my Achilles heel--I feel like any character I make up would be terrible--so when I do they are totally based on someone from real life. And my life is full of amazing people, so that's doing me well thusfar. XB
