and three whole drabbles

Overall Thoughts:
I'm probably excessively proud of this list, despite its small size.

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
Far less. I mean, twee list is twee.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?
Pinto! I mean, I'd talked about it with Liz, but I don't think either of us took me seriously.

What's your own favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?
Breaking the Habit. I have an urge to write even more messy sex stories in the future, too. I'm such a romantic.

Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
Pinto! And I learned that I, well, shouldn't write Pinto. And writing any J2 at all felt like a risk, but that played out just as I expected it - barely a drop in the pool, but fun stories nonetheless.

My best story of this year:
Parallel Motion. I read it again recently, as some kind soul left a comment on it, and it's just... awesome. Probably helps that I can see everything in my head, things that I couldn't possibly be good enough to get onto paper. But what made it onto paper is pretty cool, too. Some of the dialogue is arguably my best.

My most popular story of this year:
I have no idea how to gauge this. If we're going by comments, there's the fact that I reply to everything and often get into conversations with people about Chris Pine's ass or, you know, whatever. But the winner based on those numbers is the one that has the most hits on AO3, so who knows - Parallel Motion.

Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
Breaking the Habit, but that's nobody's fault, per se. It's pretty rare to enjoy knowing you're not the only one that's had messy, awkward anal sex. Or at least willing to admit it out loud.

Most fun story to write:
Geeks in the Bodies of Gods. I mean, come on, writing about Vin and Sheldon and Karl playing D&D? But also: it literally took me years to write. It's fucking satisfying to actually buckle down and finish something that's been languishing.

Story with the single sexiest moment:
Sexiest specifically (not romantic) would actually have to be The Power of Voodoo. If you're into mixing come with donuts, I mean.

Most "Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story:
Parallel Motion. MPREG, BABY.

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
Well, actually, the Zach in Parallel Motion wrote himself differently than my usual Zach. Usually he's catty, but this one was ridic, to the point of being insulting - to gays, to the audience, to the other characters, you name it.

Hardest story to write:
OMG What Are We Stealing? Or: Ackles' Eleven pretty much killed me. I worked on it for, like, ever, and it hurt. The source material is so outstanding that I worried about living up to it (which of course is impossible) and I wanted to make it awesome enough it would make a splash in the fandom (which of course is impossible). I knew both of those things were impossible, yet tried for them anyways. I think I still have bruises.

Biggest Disappointment:
That I didn't write better.

Biggest Surprise:
That I managed to finish a big bang. But that story pretty much wrote itself, so.

Most Unintentionally Telling Story:
I should really take the 'un-' out of there, because I'm always conscious of how much of myself there is in my writing. But we'll go with Breaking the Habit, for reasons you can now surmise if you've read it.

Favorite OC:
Chris Pine.

Favorite Opening Line(s):
"I thought once you did a movie with Clooney, you didn't have to do menial labor anymore."
[from Leave the Money and Run]

Favorite Closing Line(s):
Chris smiles into Karl’s neck. “To send Vin Diesel a fruitbasket.”
[from Geeks in the Bodies of Gods]

Favorite 5 Line(s) from Anywhere:

But Chris yearns, quietly.

Or not so quietly. "Oh my god, you fucking Neanderthal," comes Zach's annoyed voice through the bathroom door. "How many times do I have to ask you to not masturbate so loudly?"

"Sorry, Judy," he calls back, biting his lip and staring down at where his hand is indeed wrapped around his cock.

"Ugh, not Judy."

"Okay. Barbra."

"Thank you." A couple minutes later, after Chris has rubbed one out successfully and is rinsing off, Zach continues. "And don't think I don't know you're thinking about Karl."

Chris promptly falls on his ass.
[from Do I Make the Wagner Joke Now, or Later?]

Their movements slow, becoming honey-like, wet with sweat and come and Chris knows the denouement is going to be really ugly, here, but Karl, fucking Karl handles it without missing a beat, keeping hold of the condom as he pulls out then carefully rolling it off his spent cock until it's rolled inside out with the first one, so all their messy secrets are contained. Then he hands them to Chris--who would protest, but it's half his mess, anyways, and he's kind of past the point of embarrassment, now--and pushes him bodily off the bed with kisses, nudging him with his nose towards the bathroom.
[from Breaking the Habit]

"No. No! I show up to DM a perfectly normal game of Dungeons and Dragons only to realize the person with whom I'd been planning the session online for weeks has been none other than the person behind Riddick, and I don't embarrass myself. Arguably because it was a low-quality screenplay despite an above average anti-hero and an extra-large budget, but still, I prevail. Then he adds in--" He waves an arm distractedly at Karl. "Well, where should I even start? McCoy, Eomer, John Grimm, Judge Dredd-- and yet I managed. I'm fine. I don't ask you about Eomer not being present for the entire battle at Helm’s Deep, or about the numerous plot holes in Doom. I am perfectly acceptable. But now. Now you allow in the second--or perhaps first, depending on which chronology we're using--Captain Kirk, whose incarnation of the character should not have swayed me but somehow inexplicably did, and expect me to be able to form coherent and socially normative sentences, and in addition decent battle scenarios and character interactions? That's just--dare I say it?--ludicrous!"
[from Geeks in the Bodies of Gods]

Misha bows, with a flourish, then waves at them. "Alright, enough. Dress-rehearsals start tomorrow. Everybody get some sleep. And drink lots of tea."

Jensen puts an arm around Misha's neck. "You realize we're not actually music students, right?"

"Music," Misha muses, "is a magic greater than all we do here."

"You did not just quote Harry Potter at me."

Misha just smiles. "Go to bed."

"Yes, Professor."
[from What are We Stealing? Or: Ackles' Eleven]

“I can’t believe you whipped out the Britten quote during sex,” Jensen says into Jared’s neck, sounding exhausted. “Possibly the gayest thing you’ve ever done.”

Jared’s grin is huge against the pillow. Tired, but huge. “No, I’d say fucking you up the ass is the gayest thing I’ve ever done.”

Jensen shoves the extra pillow into his face.

“Uh fwmuhp voo,” Jared says through the fabric.

“Yeah, yeah, I love you too.” Jensen’s grip around his waist tightens. “Now go the fuck to sleep.”
[from What are We Stealing? Or: Ackles' Eleven]

*perks up* K/Mc mpreg? Reeeeeeaaaaaaally? :DDDDD

So...when am I allowed to start hounding you for SPN or SPN RPS mpreg?

*innocent and angelic*

In other news, it's driving me crazy that I still haven't had a chance to sit down and read What Are We Stealing. Stupid RL and new fandoms, taking over all my reading time. RAWR!

[identity profile] thalialunacy.livejournal.com 2012-01-04 08:28 am (UTC)(link)
lolol oh you <333 Yeah, I started one a million years ago for a fairy tale prompt, and still quite like it, but have just never finished it. ^^ For every story I finish, have a dozen unfinished on my hard drive. >.>

Man, with SPN I kinda feel like everything's been written! And written well! But if an idea hits me, I will write it. It's just that none have come to me yet.

Awww, don't worry, it's not going anywhere. ;) It's just a silly fun thing, no worries. I understand how exciting new fandoms can be. :D

I am sooooooooooo happy you finished your Big Bang!

And one of your "accomplishments" here should be 'To get Becca to read not only Urbine BUT J2, AND, a werewolf knotting (whatever the fuck) fic.' Because that is an amazing victory.
