[personal profile] thalialunacy2
It's actually pretty cool to have done this every year. A good thing to look back on.
  • This year I wrote and posted:
  • Overall Thoughts:
    - March was definitely me trying to ignore 1) the Democratic primary and b) the fact that I was basically homeless, sleeping in someone's attic.
    - Some hard rows were hoed in there. But I broke through.
    - Seven of those were stories that had been languishing on my hard drive. Seven! That's so rad.

  • Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
    More! Which is exciting!

  • What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would not have predicted in January?
Colin-based Brolin. I have trouble with them because a) Colin is a for actual enigma and b) Ireland?!?!?!.

  • What's your own favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?
This is actually a really tough question this year. But I'll go with The Cure For Anything because it was about Port Angeles and ferries and rain and yeah. Happy place, literally and figuratively.

  • Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
    - ahaha yes. I tried to get a story published and failed. I learned not to do it again, at least not anytime soon or with any sort of hope.
    - Fandom-wise, the Brolin (Baker, Baker) was pretty risky because again, 1) COLIN wtf, 2) religion, 3) semi-random non-OTP threesome. So. That was exciting. But I got some really positive feedback on it that really made me feel awesome.

  • My best story of this year:
Baker, Baker. It's short and five people read it but it's really well-written.

  • My most popular story of this year:
By kudos, The Cure For Anything. So I guess my happiness translated, lol.

  • Most fun story to write:
You're Only in Trouble if You Get Caught, by farrrrr. I got to be medieval but not worry about the ~*~*~angst~*~*~ of canon. Also, I'm pretty sure I wrote Merlin-temporarily-as-a-girl just so I could complain about wet dress hems somewhere besides social media.

  • Story with the single sexiest moment:
I mean, objectively speaking, probably the dirty emails in The Amber of the Moment. But for me? The half of a sex-scene in The Cure For Anything. The closeness and intimacy is so, so hot.

  • Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
Who Are Dear To Us. In writing it, I took what I knew of Jim and Bones, and wove in what was revealed to us in STB, and it was fascinating.

  • Hardest story to write:
Frat Boy 13. A lot of history there, and some of it flat-out terrible. But. I powered through, and have retained the love and not the hate.

  • Biggest Disappointment:
That my audience is so small. Which is terribly selfish and whiny of me to say, but it is what it is. It was prohibitive, at one point, because change is hard and there was a time in there where I had a huge audience. But judging by the amount I managed to write this year, it's no longer a block.

  • Biggest Surprise:
That I was so successful in finishing stuff, let's be real.

  • Most Unintentionally Telling Story:
This question is hard for me; I'm pretty acutely aware of what I'm revealing in my stories. But I will say The Man Who Held Up Atlas was ~more personal than expected. Probably because it literally took me years to write.

  • Favorite OC:
    Chris Pine.

  • Favorite Opening Line:
"There are a lot of ways it didn't happen."
    (Frat Boy 13)

  • Favorite Closing Line:
    "Bradley. Yeah. It's me."
    (the Brolin)

  • Favorite 5 Lines from Anywhere:
    1. Jim sighs gustily. "You're the highest ranking officer of my heart, Bones." (Who Are Dear To Us)
    2. - And when they were spent, Bradley had opened his mouth. 'Come with me.'
      - Colin had pulled up, as far as he could muster, and studied him. His head felt full of nonsense. 'I just… did?' he'd quipped reflexively.
      (Baker, Baker)
    3. Chris automatically takes a bite, and nearly groans. "What the hell is this? It's like sex in my mouth. Without the stray pubic hairs." (Frat Boy 13)
    4. Because his task, his glorious, humiliating task put forth by his guardian—Merlin considers writing his mother but she'd probably just be thrilled—is to be personal servant to the heir apparent. Whom Merlin hasn’t even met, by the way. Just heard about. Heard a lot of things about, none of which he's really paid attention to because peace and prosperity lead to two things: babies and gossip, so Merlin daily trips over toddlers and wagging tongues alike. He mostly ignores both. (You're Only in Trouble If You Get Caught)
    5. “Tell me I don’t have special powers.” She raises a pretend glass. “Cheers.” (The Amber of the Moment)

  • Top 5 Scenes from Anywhere You Would Choose to Have Illustrated:
    1. Arthur looking like a wet kitten in an inappropriately fluffy jacket on the deck of the Coho from The Cure For Anything
    2. Jim & Bones just before crashing the shuttle in The Man Who Held Up Atlas
    3. Colin in an empty cathedral from Baker, Baker
    4. girl!Merlin and Arthur in front of the fire in Arthur's chambers, any of the scenes in which that happens in You're Only In Trouble If You Get Caught
    5. and of course, Jim and Bones kissing in the snow by a motorcycle in Who Are Dear To Us

  • Story I haven't yet written, but intend to:
    Something with ladies in it!

  • Fic-writing goals for 2017:
More cleaning off of the hard-drive. This year I did well with that, proving it's possible. Now: onwards:
